Institutional record / About the Bureau
Small incidents.
An extensive paper trail.
Major coverage. Minor events.
Bureau of Dev_Fessions is a fictional archival publication investigating the minor incidents of web development, IT, AI, and engineering with disproportionate institutional seriousness.
A two-pixel adjustment becomes a case file. A disappearing bug prompts an incident report. An unnecessary AI rewrite requires an official finding. Every ordinary technical frustration receives meticulous documentation and an entirely straight-faced response.
What enters the record
The Bureau covers ordinary technical work: the adjustment that attracts a committee, the bug that cannot be reproduced, the helpful rewrite that exceeds its instructions, and the cable whose presence turns out to be essential.
Two kinds of record
Cases labeled “Fictional Bureau case” are written as satire. Cases labeled “Community-submitted account” begin with a contributor’s report, are edited with permission, and are not independently verified. The Bureau does not invent quotes, events, causes, or damage for community accounts.
Offices and evidence reconstructions remain part of the publication’s fictional frame.
